The History of Universal Light and Sound:

For the past thirteen years, Universal Light and Sound has been a fixture in the New York City event scene, providing premium quality sound and lighting equipment rentals for business meetings, weddings, and special events. From speakers to microphones, and projectors to Flat Screen TV's, Universal Light and Sound provides state-of-the-art equipment guaranteed to provide crisp, high-quality sound and vibrant lighting for your event.

 

Featured Services:

Meeting Equipment - We rent equipment for your meeting and press conference including a microphone and speaker along with a podium and stage.  A projector or a flat screen TV is also available for use during your presentation.

Projector Rental - A projector can be rented along with the appropriate size screen for use during a presentation.  We have a variety of screen sizes available that are ideal for a meeting or special event of any size.  For a small event or for an area with limited space a flat screen TV can be rented as an alternative to a projector.

Stage Rental - Our stage platforms can be rented in various heights and include a pleated skirt that surrounds each visible edge.  Individual 4' x 6' platforms are connected together with steel fittings to create a stage that is any size.

Podium Rental - A wooden executive style podium or a stylish clear acrylic podium can be provided for your meeting or special event.  Renting a clear acrylic podium will offers a trendy inviting feel to your presentation while our wooden executive podium provides formal feel and command to your presentation.

Gobo Lighting - We rent and setup gobo lighting equipment along with up-lights to enhance the atmosphere at your wedding or special event.  A gobo can be made custom to include your name (monogram) or event information.  A stock gobo could be used to project a pre-created image or scene on your wall or floor.  

Red Carpet & Velvet Rope - We have red carpet available for rental along with red velvet rope and a polished chrome stanchion. Our red carpet is finished on all edges and has a rubber backing to keep it in place.  Our matching velvet rope along with a pair of chrome stanchions are perfect to complete this experience.

Step-and-Repeat - Also we rent an adjustable stand to support a step-and-repeat banner of various sizes.   Lights are also available for photos against your step-and-repeat banner as a backdrop.

DJ Equipment - We have a professional line of DJ gear available  for rental.  Our DJ packages include popular equipment like the Technics 1200 DJ Turntable or the Pioneer CDJ-1000 CD player.  The popular Pioneer DJM-800 DJ Mixer or Rane TTM 57SL DJ Mixer equipped with Serato Scratch Live can also be rented in a DJ package.

Universal Light and Sound was founded in 1993 when owner Mark Johnson saw the need for high-quality sound equipment at an affordable price. Working with a few local business and event planner, Universal Light and Sound soon developed a reputation for its professional service, reliability, and high-quality custom equipment.  They since have been sought out by an increasing number of repeat clients.

 
About Mark Johnson:

Mark Johnson learned the ins and outs of New York City’s special event scene while a student at New York University’s Stern Business School. Although he admits that he should have been spending more time in class, the education he gained assisting with special events soon proved to be priceless, as Mark honed his passion for sound and lighting design. After graduating in 1994, Mark worked as a computer engineer for Goldman Sachs while spending weekends providing sound and lighting equipment, ultimately leading to the birth of Universal Light and Sound.
